SWITCH to Green works to strengthen the networks and supports that feed green commerce. Not only do SWITCH regional programmes help to boost the market, but the focus on knowledge sharing gives MSMEs and eco-entrepreneurs access to EU Good Practices and advice. By opening the channels between the public and private sectors and encouraging eco-incentives, the flagship initiative aims at creating an enabling environment where eco-entrepreneurship can thrive. SWITCH to Green, through its numerous environmental programmes and grant projects offers financial support for the private sector to develop and invest in SCP.

SWITCH to Green is not only about synergising initiatives and sharing best practices, but also about incorporating sustainability into policy frameworks. For developing countries, more efficient resource use is not only an urgent environmental concern; it also represents an opportunity for competitiveness and economic growth. One of the objectives of the Flagship Initiative is to identify ways for countries covered by the Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI) to generate an inclusive green economy.

SWITCH to Green promotes knowledge sharing and collaborative strength, with the Facility engaging in actions expanding EU knowledge on green economy tools and processes. By working to protect the environment and generate green economies in developing countries, the initiative supports EU environmental standards, improves the health of the global economy, and encourages better imports for Europe.

SWITCH to Green works with various EU actors to enhance international progress towards green transition. Through technical assistance, including information and capacity building, the SWITCH to Green Facility assists EU Delegations and Directorates in effecting an inclusive green economy. The Facility works closely with EU DG International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO) units to assist them in identifying, formulating, monitoring and coordinating actions promoting an inclusive green economy.

SWITCH to Green operates in line with the EU’s commitment to cooperate closely with international organisations as part of a global drive for environmental and economic sustainability. The Flagship Initiative has worked with international organisations from the beginning; collaboration is its key tool for mainstreaming inclusive green economy action.
