Strategic Environmental Assessment in EU development cooperation.

The Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a powerful tool to enhance the contributions of a national/sectoral policy or strategy (strategic document) towards environmentally sustainable, climate resilient and low carbon development. SEA was first piloted in EU development cooperation in 2006. Since then, more than 40 SEAs have been prepared.

The SEA booklet  primarily targets EU officials involved in designing, managing and using the findings of an SEA; it provides practical advice to make the most of this tool. It is structured in 10 tipps that guide implementation of a Strategic Environmental Assessment.
