WCEF2024 Accelerator Session: Ukraine’s circular reconstruction

Ukraine suffers extensive devastation, with industries and buildings in urban areas significantly damaged due to shelling. The reconstruction of infrastructure and the revitalization of the economy demand a forward-thinking approach that prioritizes minimizing environmental impact. By integrating circular economy principles from the outset, it’s feasible to reduce construction waste, mitigate economic decline, and create new opportunities. Despite challenges, the restoration of Ukraine represents a chance for rapid modernization, especially with the backing of the EU in advancing environmental sustainability.
